The\nVi olins of The World is the brainchild of French Gypsy jazz guitarist and\nc omposer Mathias Duplessy. It brings together the rhythms and melodies of\n many different cultures in an incredible new style of exotic and unique\na rrangements. Asian always\, spirit of the blues often\, and Celtic rhythms \nand melodies of the Mongolian steppe offer an astonishing cross-cultural \nencounter. The four virtuosos bridge the gap between tradition and\nmode rnity.
The group consists of Guo Gan from China with his fiddle\nEr hu\; Enkhjargal (Epi) Dandarvaanchig from Mongolia with horse-headed\nfidd le and throat singing\, and Grammy-nominated American Casey Driessen\nwith the fiddle\, backed by Duplessy’s propulsive acoustic guitar. Fall of\n 2022 brings Duplessy &\; The Violins of The World to tour the United\nS tates for their very first time.
For over 25 years\, SVMoA has been\ nbringing professional musicians\, authors\, and artists into Blaine Count y\nSchools to work with and perform for local students. All of the artists in\nthe 2022–2023 Performing Arts Residency &\; Concert Series will share\ntheir talents with students through our Residency Program.
