Shine a Light: Artful SEL for the New Year

Thursday, December 18, 2025 - 4:00 PM

Join fellow Blaine County educators for a hands-on, adult-centered creative session designed to spark new ideas for integrating visual arts into social-emotional learning (SEL). December’s workshop spotlights Glimmer Boards—an arts-based reflection tool that helps students identify “glimmers” (positive, grounding moments), strengthen self-awareness, and practice emotional regulation. As we prepare for a fresh start in the new year, this session offers a meaningful way to help students reflect, reset, and build emotional resilience through art. You’ll learn simple, classroom-ready ways to use collage, drawing, and mixed-media techniques to help students slow down, notice the good, and express themselves visually.

Educators will have time to create their own Glimmer Boards and discuss practical strategies for weaving SEL-focused artmaking into different grade levels and content areas. Whether you teach art, language arts, counseling, or any subject where emotions shape learning, you’ll leave with creative approaches you can bring into your classroom this upcoming January and beyond.

Educator Evening is offered monthly—held in either Hailey or Ketchum on the third Thursday from 4–6 pm. Refreshments provided. Creativity encouraged. Connection guaranteed.

This event takes place from 4-6pm at the Hailey Classroom
