Forests\, Foraging and Fires will look at the\nfo rest as an ecosystem\, a resource and a place of transformation. The\nproj ect will consider what we take from the forest—both materially and\nspir itually—how we manage it\, the creatures that inhabit it and the\nimpact of fires. This three-day\nworksh op will introduce the novice to printmaking while providing\nopportunities for seasoned printmakers to explore non-toxic materials for\ncreating mon otypes. Monotype printmaking involves the creation of\none-of-a-kind print s using painting\, drawing and stencil techniques with a\nsheet of plexigl ass as the printing plate. Students will be introduced to\nregistration\, and printing in layers employing additive and subtractive\ntechniques with soy and honey based Akua inks. This workshop is for all\nlevels of artist s interested in making prints using safer and greener\nmethods.
Nac k is a teaching artist on the Idaho Commission on the\nArts Teaching Roste r\, Boise’s Department of Arts and History and The\nCreative Access Art Center in Boise. She is founder of Wingtip Press\,\nIdaho’s first indepe ndent printmaking studio and workshop. Wingtip Press\nis dedicated to the fine art of printmaking and provides a collaborative\nenvironment and comm unity access to print and paper arts through studio\npress rental\, worksh ops\, print portfolio exchanges\, public exhibitions and\nvisiting artists .
