Alison Higdon is a mixed media\nartist focused prima rily in encaustic painting. Using this ancient art form\nof molten wax\, r esin\, and pigment she combines design elements from various\ncultures\, t extures from nature and a sense for the abstract. Higdon states\,\n“The natural world provides an immense palette of inspiration to fuel my\ncreat ivity.”
This class is offered Saturdays\, Apr 18\, 25 &\; May\ n9\, 16\, from 1-5pm. Students can register for individual sessions or tak e\nall four sessions.

\nK ristin Poole holds an MA in Modern Art History from the University of\nChi cago (1989) and a BA in Studio Art and English from Denison University\n(1 980). She has served as Artistic Director at the Center since 1997. Prior\ nto joining the staff at the Center she worked as an Independent Lecturer\ ,\nConsultant\, and Art Historian. Previous experience includes: Director of\nChicago International New Art Forms Exposition\, Curatorial Assistant\ ,\nMuseum of Contemporary Art (Chicago)\, Director of the Sun Valley Cente r for\nthe Arts Gallery\, and Director of Lill Street Gallery (Chicago).
\nCourtney Gilbert holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in art history from\nthe University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth C ollege.\nMost recently she worked at the Blanton Museum of Art at the Univ ersity of\nTexas at Austin\, where she coordinated the planning for a majo r exhibition\nof Latin American abstract art. Prior to joining The Center\ , she also\ntaught Art History at Columbia College Chicago\, and Texas Sta te\nUniversity.
