In this workshop\,\npa rticipants will focus on the art and craft of writing fiction. The class\n will read and discuss a few published short stories\, reverse-engineering\ nthem to draw inspiration\, lessons\, and guidance to apply to individual\ nwork. The bulk of the workshop\, however\, is devoted to participant’s\ nfiction. Additionally\, the class will discuss strategies for making writ ing\na part of our daily lives\, reaching the end of a large writing proje ct\,\nrevising\, and publishing. A short story or novel excerpt (20 pages maximum)\nis due in advance. The workshop is a supportive space\, and all are welcome\,\nregardless of experience.
ANTHONY MARRA is the autho r of the New\nYork Times bestseller A Constellation of Vital Phenomena \, winner\nof the National Book Critics Circle's inaugural John Leona rd Prize\, the\nAnisfield-Wolf Book Award\, the Barnes and Noble Discover Award\, the\nCalifornia Book Award\, and Greece’s Athens Prize for Liter ature. A\nNational Book Award long list selection\, Constellation was also a finalist\nfor France’s Prix Médicis Étranger and the Dayton Literar y Peace Prize\,\namong others. Marra received an MFA from the Iowa Writers ' Workshop and was\na Stegner Fellow at Stanford University\, where he now teaches as a Jones\nLecturer in Fiction.
