Dianne Sánchez Shumway is an arts educator, researcher, and visual artist with 15+ years of experience connecting communities through the arts. Her work bridges education, creativity, and community engagement, amplifying underrepresented narratives and fostering social change. Dianne holds a master’s in Arts in Education from Harvard and a BFA in Art Teaching and Photography from the University of Utah. She is pursuing a doctorate in Art and Art Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, focusing on Judy Baca’s The Great Wall of Los Angeles and its evolving historical narrative. Her career began with mural projects and photography programs for refugee communities in Salt Lake City. She has served as President of the Community Arts Caucus for the National Art Education Association and continues to advocate for the transformative power of the arts.

Based in Hailey, Dianne enjoys cooking, hiking, travel, and film photography with her husband, two children, and dog.
