Intermediate/Advanced Fly-Tying, a two-day workshop, is designed for people looking to refine their skills in tying their flies. In this class, instructor Paddy McIlvoy will teach students more advanced techniques to fly-tying and work with a greater range of materials. Participants should know the basics of fly-tying. Participants will leave with the flies they create. All materials and tools will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their vises and tools.

This is a 2-day workshop that takes place from 6-8pm on Wednesday May 7 and Thursday May 8, 2025 at the Hailey Classroom.
About the instructor:
Paddy McIlvoy started tying flies at seven years old and is just as enthusiastic about it today as he was then. He enjoys fly tying both to catch fish and as an artistic pursuit, trying to embrace creativity in both materials and technique. Paddy spent 15 years as a fly-fishing guide in the Wood River Valley, retiring from guiding in 2018. Today he is the co-owner of Backwoods Mountain Sports.
