We have just been notified that Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings are canceling their summer tour, for health reasons. As a result we will be unable to present them as planned on July 14 at River Run. Sharon Jones has been diagnosed with stage-one bile duct cancer, which has fortunately been discovered early. It is expected that the immediate proposed surgical solution will lead to a full recovery, but because of its invasive and complex nature, will necessitate a rather lengthy convalescence.
While The Center is disappointed that we will not be able to present Sharon Jones this summer, we wish her a speedy recovery. In the meantime, Center staff are working diligently to find a great performer to fill the summer concert slot. Please stay tuned as we work through some options. We will be in touch via email with our members as well as through our website and local media outlets as soon as there is news to announce.
